Description
The WeldproTIGACDC250GD welder is an inverter based TIG welding machine that utilizes the most advanced inverter technology. IGBT circuits along with PWM technology, along with the greatly reduced size and weight, enable this welder to not only be more efficient by 30%, but also as a result of the electronic circuitry, enables this AC/DC TIG welding machine to afford the user far more and better range of settings for each specific weld. It is capable of both HF TIG and Stick welding. The ACDCTIG250GD also has a 30% duty cycle at full amperage for DC TIG and a 60% duty cycle for AC TIG. The ACDCTIG250 is capable of welding with either AC or DC current. This allows the user to choose DC current welding for carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and many other metals, while also being equipped with the ability to switch over to AC welding commonly used in welding aluminum and aluminum alloys, magnesium and even TIG brazing. The new Memory Function allows users to save presets for all their most often used welding settings.

This is a review of the Weldpro TIGACDC250GD w/CKT26 Gas-Cooled Torch
This welder was purchased by the company I work for at my suggestion (I am the primary user). (I own the TIGACDC200GD model for home use) We primarily use the unit for steel welding at our shop. The company was looking for a TIG welder for occasional use that would be inexpensive. Having experience with the 200 it was my recommendation.
We re-weld a lot of hydraulic cylinders were the old flawed welds are cut out on our lathe and the yoke to barrel is re-welded. We also do a lot of industrial repairs on bent, cracked and broken parts. We also do some fabrication work. Since adding the TIG welder to our shop we are using it a lot more than even I anticipated.
Onto the welder – The packaging of the unit was excellent, metal supports in the corners and plenty of styrofoam to prevent the inevitable bumps it will get from hurting anything. Everything came out of the box in flawless condition. The CK torch is first class, the SSC pedal has amazing feel and plenty sturdy. (I have the same pedal for my 200 welder purchased as an option on that model) I like the lower/wide profile, its just a joy to use. The machine interface is extremely easy to navigate, I have found the memory function very useful (and easy) to store and recall refined pulse setups. Its simplicity was quickly noted by our other experienced welders. A nifty thing the 250 does is when you power the unit on it opens the gas valve to purge the torch line, this ensures you don’t “forget” to tap the pedal, I like that feature (the 200 does not have that feature). The flow meter is adequate and leak free, being honest its the only item Weldpro supplies I don’t care for. The pressure/flow balance of the unit gives quirky flow readings (my own opinion of the issue). I have checked the flow meter with a “peashooter” and found the variance flow to be about 7 CFH low. I had a similar experience with mine at home and upgraded mine. I think it will be something we will do with the 250 as well at some point. If set by a flow checker or an experienced welder it does work fine (reason for no stars removed). The welding arc is very smooth on straight DC. I use the pulse function a lot to improve arc focus and to agitate the weld puddle (generally high speed pulse). The “transition” from high frequency to welding pulse when low amp arc starting and completion is very predictable using the pedal. We have about 20 welding hours on the unit so far and its working out very well.
The Weldpro support is first class, to illustrate this the quick couple adapter for the torch line did not make it into the box. A call into Weldpro had one in the mail strait away no issue. Again no removed stars, no ones perfect and I firmly believe evaluation is about how problems are resolved.
If you are looking for a very good TIG welding package in this current range at a good price, that’s on the simpler side to adjust and use its a good choice. – Bill
